UNICRI co-hosted the “Training of Trainers Course for
Psychologists and Social Workers on Rehabilitation and Reintegration of Violent
Extremist Offenders (VEOs)” in prison settings with the Rehabilitation Centres
Department and Jordanian Corrections on October 22-24, 2018. The purpose of the
training program is to enhance the skills and capabilities of social workers
and psychologists so that they could provide better treatment to VEO inmates.
The training program participants completed a series of training modules in
Amman, Jordan on how to utilize pragmatic reintegration and rehabilitation
strategies. The program was created to
address and reduce violent extremism in prisons. UNICRI is a member of the
Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) of the United Nations and
implemented a significant international initiative and supported member states
since 2012 in establishing reintegration and rehabilitation programs for
foreign terrorist fighters and VEOS.
